Tara Lang, PA-C holds a Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from The University of Alabama at Birmingham. She chose UAB’s PA program for its surgical specialty component. During her clinical year, Tara gained meaningful experience through several elective surgical rotations — including general orthopedic surgery, orthopedic trauma surgery, and plastic surgery.
A native of Lakewood, Colorado, Tara earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Integrative Biology from The University of Colorado Denver. While in college, she worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant for a long-term care and rehabilitation facility. Her work provided Tara with early inspiration and experience for her orthopedics career — especially in helping patients recover from total hip and total knee replacements, as well as from orthopedic injuries incurred during motor-vehicle accidents. While preparing for her graduate coursework, Tara was able to shadow several physicians and surgeons in their daily work. After her first experience in the OR, Tara was convinced that a surgical specialty was her calling.
Growing up near the Rocky Mountains and Red Rocks amphitheater, Tara spent an active childhood exploring the outdoors, skiing, hiking, biking, camping, and boating. She also loved playing sports — everything from swimming, volleyball, and basketball, to gymnastics and cheerleading. Tara even coached gymnastics and cheerleading during high school and college. In her spare time, she still enjoys snow skiing with friends and family, hiking with her husband Lee and dog Grey, and cheering loud for the Denver Broncos.
