Richard Rhodes, M.D. is board certified in Orthopedic Sports Medicine and Orthopedic Surgery. Dr. Rhodes received his medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. After completing his orthopedic residency at the Fort Wayne Medical Education Program in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Dr. Rhodes served in the military as chief of orthopaedics in the Sixth Air Mobility Wing and U.S. Special Operations Command.
As chief, Dr. Rhodes provided advanced treatment for Green Berets, Navy Seals, Marine Force Recon, Air Force Special Operations, and served as team physician for the Special Operations Parachute Demonstration Team.
For his service both stateside and in combat operations, he received the Surgical Excellence Award, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal and Meritorious Service Medal. Dr. Rhodes was also named Air Mobility Command Surgeon of the Year for 2008.
Dr. Rhodes has long had an interest in sports medicine and served as assistant physician to the Fort Wayne Komets hockey team, the Tri State University football team and the St. Francis University football team. He is currently the team physician for the Texas Revolution arena football team.
Richard Rhodes, M.D. received his undergraduate degree from Texas A&M University. He and his wife have two young children and are involved in family church and sports activities. Dr. Richard Rhodes is a fan of Texas high school sports, Texas A&M athletics, Rangers baseball and Cowboys football. Dr. Rhodes played lacrosse while at Texas A&M and coached high school lacrosse in Indiana. He also enjoys fishing, hunting and golf.
